Hotel Operations & Guest Relations Ordinance


TO GUESTS OF TREASURE ISLAND RESORT AND CASINO

YOUR ATTENTION IS CALLED TO THE FOLLOWING RULES

FIRES CAUSED BY SMOKING: A person in a hotel who, by smoking or attempting to light or smoke cigarettes, cigars, pipes or other smoking material, in any manner in which lighters or matches are used, negligently sets fire to a part of the building, or any furniture or furnishings within the building, so as to endanger life or property in any way or to any extent, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

FALSE ALARMS AND TAMPERING: A person who intentionally gives a false alarm of fire, or unlawfully tampers or interferes with any station or signal box of any fire alarm system or any auxiliary fire appliance, or unlawfully breaks, defaces or removes any such box or station, or unlawfully breaks, injures, destroys, or disturbs any of the wires, poles, or other supports and appliances connected with or forming a part of any fire alarm system or any auxiliary fire appliance is guilty of a misdemeanor.

LIABILITY TO GUESTS: The hotel maintains a fireproof safe which is in good order and fit for the custody of valuables, and use of the safe is available to all guests upon request. The hotel shall not be liable for the loss of or injury to the valuables of the guest unless such valuables have been specifically entrusted to the care of the hotel and the guest has a receipt attesting to the acceptance of such responsibility. The hotel shall not be required to accept valuables for custody in the safe or vault if their value exceeds $100.00 unless acceptance is in writing.

OVERSTAYING GUESTS: A guest who intentionally continues to occupy an unassigned room in the hotel beyond the scheduled departure date without prior written approval of the hotel shall be deemed to be a trespasser.

EJECTION OF UNDESIRABLE GUESTS: The hotel may remove or cause to be removed from the hotel a guest or other person who (1) refuses or is unable to pay for the accommodations or services; (2) while on the premises of the hotel acts in an obviously intoxicated or disorderly manner, destroys or threatens to destroy hotel property, or causes or threatens to cause a disturbance; (3) the hotel reasonably believes is using the premises for unlawful possession or use of control substances by the person in violation of applicable law, or using the premises for consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 years; (4) the hotel reasonably believes has brought property into the hotel that may be dangerous to other persons such as firearms or explosives; (5) violates any applicable laws, ordinances, or rules relating to the hotel; or (6) violates a rule of the hotel that is clearly and conspicuously posted at or near the front desk or on the inside of the entrance door of every guest room. If a guest has paid in advance, the hotel shall tender to the guest any unused portion of the advanced payment at the time of removal.

REFUSAL OF ADMISSION: The hotel may refuse to admit or refuse services or accommodations to a person who (1) while on the premises of the hotel acts in an obviously intoxicated or disorderly manner, destroys or threatens to destroy hotel property, or causes or threatens to cause a public disturbance; (2) the hotel reasonably believes is seeking accommodation for unlawful possession or use of controlled substances for the use of the premises for consumption or intoxicating liquor by a person under the age of 21 years; (3) the hotel reasonably believes is bringing property into the hotel that may be dangerous to other persons, such as firearms or explosives; or (4) the hotel reasonable believes is seeking accommodation for an unlawful purpose.

The hotel also may refuse to admit or refuse service or accommodation to a person who refuses or is unable to pay for the accommodation or services. A hotel may require the prospective guest to demonstrate an ability to pay. A hotel may required a parent or guardian of a minor to accept liability for the proper charges for minor’s accommodation, board, room, lodging and any damages to the guest room or its furniture or furnishings caused by the minor, provide a credit card to cover the charges. If a parent or guardian cannot provide a credit card, the hotel may require the parent or guardian to make advanced cash deposit to cover the charges of the guest room plus a cash deposit not exceeding $100 for payment of any additional charges by the minor or any damages to the guest room or its furniture or furnishings. The hotel may refund the damage deposit to the extent it is not used to cover any reasonable charges or damages. A hotel may limit the number of persons who occupy a particular guest room in the hotel.

LIABILITY NOTICE: A person who negligently or intentionally causes damage to the hotel or any furniture or furnishings within the hotel is liable for damages sustained by the hotel, including the hotel’s loss of revenue resulting from the inability to rent or lease the rooms while the damage is being repaired. A person who negligently or intentionally causes injury to any person or damage to any personal property or the person or the hotel premises is liable for the injury or damage. A parent or guardian of minor is also liable for the acts of the minor under this section if the parent or guardian provides a credit card or an advanced cash deposit.
