Community Water

The Community’s water contains chlorine (state law requires the chlorine for health reasons). Unfortunately chlorine breaks down the iron and manganese deposits, and this can cause discolored water. The Water/Wastewater Department will conduct regular flushing of hydrants to minimize discoloration.

The best thing you can do is pay close attention to your water quality. Check the water at the tap and at the washer for discoloration. If you notice that your water is reddish-brown or yellow, discontinue washing clothes and run fixtures until the water is flushed through the system.

You should also continue to use your existing home-softening systems.
